Wits out to down AmaZulu

Johannesburg - Bidvest Wits will look to bounce back to winning form in the Absa Premiership when they host AmaZulu at Bidvest Stadium.

Wits suffered their second defeat of the season in their last outing, going down 1-0 away to Orlando Pirates.

Gavin Hunt’s side has claimed seven points from a possible nine in home matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Mamelodi Sundowns (away), Polokwane City (home) and Bloemfontein Celtic (away).

The Clever Boys are placed fourth on the Absa Premiership log with 10 points from six matches.

AmaZulu have yet to win a league match this season, but they claimed a creditable 2-2 draw away to Polokwane in their last outing.

Craig Rosslee’s side has claimed two points from a possible 12 in away matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Chippa United (home), Free State Stars (away) and Black Aces (home).

Usuthu are placed 16th on log with three points from six matches.

In head-to-head stats, Wits and AmaZulu have met in 51 league matches since 1985.

The Clever Boys have 19 wins compared to 12 for Usuthu, while 20 matches have been drawn.

Wits have won 13 of their 26 home matches against AmaZulu, suffering just five defeats down the years.

Last season the Johannesburg side took four points off their Durban counterparts, drawing 1-1 in Gauteng before a 1-0 win in the return match in KwaZulu-Natal.

Kick-Off is scheduled for Friday, September 26 at 20:00.
