Wits hunt for a top striker

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits are in desperate hunt for a top striker to add to their squad before closing their cheque book that has seen them sign top players like Elias Pelembe, Nazeer Allie and Daine Klate.

According to a source at the club, the team will bolster their squad with a top striker that can regularly get goals for Gavin Hunt’s side that will be searching for trophies in the new season.

“Look, Gavin is on a mission to build a formidable team that can challenge for trophies in the new season and at the moment the target is on getting a top striker,” the source told Sport24.

“Our coach is known for winning trophies like he did with SuperSport United and I think with the signing done during this window, it shows that he is hungry for success.”

The source said the technical team has identified goal scoring as their main problem and wants to rectify it by getting a top marksman, who can find the back of the net on a regular basis.

The Students have also added Keagan Jacobs, Gerald Phiri as well Kris Bright to their squad.

Former Moroka Swallows midfielder, Lerato Chabangu, has also been training with Wits in a hope to get a deal following the relegation of the Dube Birds.
