Wits ‘delighted’ to sign former Bafana winger Klate

CAPE TOWN — Bidvest Wits CEO Jose Ferreira has confirmed the signing of former Orlando Pirates midfielder Daine Klate.

According the club’s official website, Ferreira is over the moon with their new addition and knows that the player will be a major “asset” to the club.

“We are delighted to have on board a player of the calibre of Daine,” said Ferreira. “Both [coach] Gavin [Hunt] and myself have had the pleasure of working with him and his quality, professionalism and unwavering commitment on the field of play will undoubtedly be an asset to our club.”

Klate has an incredible CV and boasts five League titles.

The former Bafana Bafana winger is the only player to win five consecutive Premiership titles.

The 30-year-old took to Twitter to confirm his excitement about the move stating, “Happy to announce that i am joining @BidvestWits in the new season … Looking forward to the new venture …”

Klate could only muster up 19 PSL appearances as niggling injuries and competition constantly interfered with his game time, which is why Pirates offloaded the player to SuperSport United in the January transfer window. — Sport24
