Wits counting on home ground advantage

Johannesburg - Ahead of their MTN8 semi-final second leg tier against Ajax Cape Town, Bidvest Wits midfielder Dillon Sheppard says the Clever Boys will be looking to capitalise on their home ground advantage when the two sides meet.

The Students and the Urban Warriors will battle for an R8m competition final spot at the Bidvest stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The two sides played to a 1-all stalemate on a bumpy pitch in Stellenbosch two weeks ago.

The veteran midfielder insisted that his teammates will be more motivated to win taking into consideration the fact that they managed to score a much needed away goal down in the Mother City.

“It was really tough down there in the first leg, the pitch wasn’t great at all and it was not playable," said Sheppard

“But we managed to grab an away goal despite that, which is important for us.

“So we are going to this game with one foot in the final and the home ground advantage will make a huge difference for us.

“Because we have already played a league game against Ajax at home this season and we got the results we were looking for.

“So we already had the taste of that and hopefully we’ll get a win again and go all the way to the final.”
