Williams hopes for improved season

Cape Town - SuperSport United goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has set his sights on minimizing goals conceded this season, and being a better marshal of his back-line.

Williams had below-par return last season, leaking 46 goals in 37 games. The addition of experienced defenders Bongani Khumalo and Michael Boxall has bolstered the team's structure, though, and led to a tighter defence this term.

Since the beginning of the season, Williams has conceded a solitary goal in three matches.

"We worked on not conceding so many goals and I mean in the three league games that we played to date I have only conceded one and kept two clean sheets," Williams told KickOff.

"It is always good for a goalkeeper to concede less goals. The less goals you concede, the more games you win so it gives confidence to everyone especially myself and now with the call-up my confidence has been boosted.

"We have a lot of experienced guys now, we have Bongs, we have Boxall so it is good for me as they are international players."
