Williams gets Igesund backing

Cape Town - SuperSport United coach Gordon Igesund has backed goalkeeper Ronwen Williams to return to his best form soon.

The 22-year-old has drawn criticism of late, following a blunder he made in a 2-1 Premiership defeat to Orlando Pirates last week.

Igesund, however, is confident that the Bafana Bafana shot-stopper will be back to his very best for this Saturday’s TKO final showdown with Platinum Stars at the Orlando Stadium.

"I think Ronwen has done a fantastic job prior to the last game [against Pirates], he had kept three or four clean sheets, he has done very well," said Igesund.

"On Sunday there was a situation where you can say the keeper made a mistake, a judgement error, these things happen, we are all human and we make mistakes.

"It is water under the bridge and if a goalkeeper makes a mistake it is very noticeable. He has done some very, very good things, he has been on top of his game. In this competition against Bidvest Wits and Orlando Pirates [In TKO] he was very, very good.

"He is on top of his game, he is playing very, very well at the moment and I am very happy with his form. He is a top goalkeeper and he has been great."
