We'd love to beat Pirates - Okwuosa

Port Elizabeth - Chippa United have received a timely boost with the return to fitness of defender James Okwuosa ahead of Orlando Pirates' visit in the PSL.

The former Enugu Rangers centre-back was in danger of missing the match due to a problem with his knee, but he has used the recent two-week break to complete his recovery.

Okwuosa confirmed his availability for the clash against the Soweto giants, which is set to take place at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.

“We are preparing for it just like every other game. Pirates are a big club and I bet every club in the league would love to beat them,” Okwuosa said in an interview with SL10.

“So it isn't different with us. But at the end we understand it's just one game and we have to prepare as usual for it. The training sessions have been interesting and yes we will be ready for them.”

The Chilli Boys are currently sitting in ninth place in the Absa Premiership standings, with seven points on the board after six matches.

In head-to-head stats, Chippa and Pirates have met in just two previous league matches.

Both of those encounters took place in the 2012/13 season. The Chilli Boys claimed four points, drawing 0-0 in Cape Town before a 1-0 win in the return match in Soweto.

Kick-off is set for 15:00 on Saturday, September 27.
