We're not selling 'Vila' - Hunt

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt has once again moved to reject suggestions that Sibusiso Vilakazi is on the verge of joining Mamelodi Sundowns or Kaizer Chiefs

The 25-year-old midfielder is coveted by Sundowns boss Pitso Mosimane, who is reportedly willing to offer Katlego Mashego and Nyasha Mushekwi in exchange.

However, Hunt has made it clear in no uncertain terms Vilakazi would not be leaving Wits in the current transfer window.

Following his side's defeat to Ajax Cape Town in the MTN8 semi-finals on Sunday, Hunt was asked whether it was Vilakazi's last game for the club.

"No this wasn't his last game," Hunt told Soccer Laduma.

"He is not going anywhere.

"Villa is still our player and we are not selling him to any team."

While Hunt is seemingly certain Vilakazi will be staying beyond the 17:00 transfer deadline on Monday, August 31 Sundowns are working hard behind the scenes in a bid to convince Wits to accept a swap deal involving Mashego and Mushekwi.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
