Cape Town - Rise and Shine were dumped out of the Nedbank Cup in the Last 32 after suffering a 4-1 drubbing at the hand of SuperSport United at the Lucas Moripe stadium on Wednesday.

Despite the heavy defeat, Polokwane City captain Jabulani Maluleke believes his side could have walked away victorious due to their impressive performance.

The former Black Leopards midfielder said Gordon Igesund’s side managed to expose his teammates from their wing play and they will work hard to improve from their area of weakness going forward.

“It was a great game and I think we deserved to win it because we were going forward very well.” Maluleke told Sport24.

“We played very well despite our loss but congratulations to SuperSport United.

“They have capitalised on our wings, so I think that is our area of weakness.

“We need to work hard on that area going forward.”

Polokwane City will be looking to put the Nedbank Cup defeat to one side as the high-flying PSL side face a date with Orlando Pirates on Saturday.

The Buccaneers are just one place and one log point ahead of their visitors with Kosta Papic's men looking to add Pirates to their list of scalps this season.

The match kicks off at 18:00.
