Vilakazi backs the Clever Boys

Johannesburg - Bidvest Wits skipper Sibusiso Vilakazi believes they have the key to overcome Bloemfontein Celtic in the MTN8 quarter-finals on Friday night.

The Clever Boys will host Phunya Sele Sele in the first round of the R8m winner takes all competition at Bidvest Stadium.

The 2013/14 PSL Footballer of the Season said he is well aware of the expectations on his team following a top notch 2013/14 season which saw them finish third on the ABSA Premiership log.

“It’s a new season,” said Vilakazi. “And the expectations are there, obviously for the team to win things (trophies). We are hoping to get the results when we play against Celtic on Friday.

“We are hoping that every individual who will be given a chance to play on the day will do the job on the pitch. I believe they will do their best to help the team win. We have to win this game so that we must proceed to the next round.”

A big blow for the Clever Boys will be the unavailability of first choice goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs due to an injury which will sideline him for up to six weeks.

The match will commence at 19:30 on Friday.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
