Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates have announced that Vladimir Vermezovic has quit as the club's head coach on Wednesday following a dismal run of form.
Pirates confirmed the resignation through a statement released on their official website.
In the statement, Pirates say that Vermezovic, in line with South Africa's labour laws, furnished the club's authorities with a mandatory 30-day notice period.
Assistant coach, Eric Tinkler will assume Vermezovic's role in a caretaker capacity with immediate effect.
"We have accepted VV’s resignation.
"The stability of the team is always a pressing priority.
"Eric Tinkler will again assume the role of caretaker coach until the end of the 2014/2015 season," said club president Irvine Khoza.
"I will sit down with VV in an exit interview to hear him out.
"I naturally wished that he stayed longer and had more success at Orlando Pirates.
"He has however added the Nedbank Cup and Carling Black Label Cup success at Orlando Pirates to his list of achievements. I wish him well into the future," concluded Khoza.
Pirates currently occupy sixth place on the PSL log following their 2-1 home loss to Maritzburg United on Tuesday.
