Johannesburg - Former Golden Arrows midfielder Elrio van Heerden is continuing to keep himself fit as he waits to find himself a new club.
The 29-year-old midfielder recently came to the end of his contract at Abafana Bes’thende and is currently in the process of searching for a new team ahead of the upcoming 2012/13 season.
Van Heerden did well during his time in Durban, however it seems that neither the player nor the club were keen to extend their relationship when his deal came to an end in June.
Now the former Westerlo man has told the Siya crew that he’s currently playing the waiting game but is making sure that he stays in good shape.
He said, “I’m just spending some time keeping fit, making sure I go to the gym and be prepared in case anything comes up. I’m just waiting for now.”
It is thought that there are a number of options for Van Heerden abroad but that the player wouldn’t be averse to staying in Mzansi should an offer from the right team come in.
