Happy Jele and Ayanda Gcaba held the central defensive positions for Pirates in their 2-1 victory over City courtesy of Issa Sarr and Thabo Qalinge.

According to KickOff, Vermezovic confirms that the player had a serious eye infection which kept the player sidelined and away from the rest of the squad.

"Two days ago, we had a problem with Siya. He got some infection on his eye and it was very dangerous to be with the team," Vermezovic said.

"For us the health of our players comes first. My idea was to play Rooi Mahamutsa, but he got some family problems, he had to go."

The Sebian could not reveal as to when the 33-year-old would return for the Mighty Bucs.

Meanwhile, the Sea Robbers will have a tough encounter in the quarter-final when they face Ajax Cape Town after the Telkom Knockout draw too place later today.
