Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates coach, Vladimir Vermezovic, has explained his reason for leaving striker Lehlohonolo Majoro behind for last Friday’s Nedbank Cup match against Santos.
According to the Soccer-Laduma website, Majoro’s omission from the Bucs squad that defeated the People’s Team 2-0 last Friday raised a lot of eyebrows, but Vermezovic says his exclusion was nothing more than a tactical decision.
“We had Lennox Bacela as one of our best strikers this season. We also had (Helder) Pelembe who is always useful, so we decided to bring them for this game,” said Vermezovic.
“We will check the other strikers during a friendly on Tuesday. Look, we have less than fifty days to decide on which of these players will be with us next season and who is going on loan or released. So we need to give everyone a chance,” added Vermezovic.
Meanwhile, Vermezovic has not ruled out the possibility of catching Chiefs and winning the PSL title.
“Our main goal now is to win as many games as possible, both in the league and cup games. Until mathematically (is over), nothing is over,” concluded Vermezovic.
