Cape Town - AmaZulu have moved to clarify the suspension of Carlington Nyadombo, rubbishing claims it had anything to do with the defender's alleged use of 'muti'.

The Zimbabwe international was last week handed an indefinite ban by the club, which led to talk amongst Usuthu fans he had been using witchcraft, which resulted in the side's woeful form this term.

And, with the Durban club having then gone on to hammer SuperSport Untied 5-2 on Sunday without Nyadombo, supporters appeared convinced he had previously been delving into the black arts.

AmaZulu publicist Philani Mabaso, though, has revealed the real reason behind the suspension, telling KickOff: “The reports that the player is suspended for muti is not true. We suspended the player because he missed a flight for our game against [Bloemfontein] Celtic [which AmaZulu lost 3-0] and for dishonesty.”

Usuthu now appear in no rush to deal with the defender's indiscipline, with Mabaso adding: “He remains suspended with payment of his salary.

“Our mission now is to get the team out of the relegation zone. We will look at his matter at a later stage.”
