Usuthu banking on Ke Yona

Cape Town - AmaZulu spokesman Philani Mabaso believes their opening Nedbank Cup fixture against Golden Arrows at the Princess Magogo Stadium will provide the ideal opportunity for the club to win fans over once again.

Usuthu have produced a woeful season thus far and their chances of salvaging something from it appear slim. The Nedbank Cup might, therefore, prove just the opportunity the team are looking for at this juncture.

"One of the best ways to win our fans back and get their support is to win," said Mabaso, after the venue for that fixture was confirmed.

"We have an opportunity to prove ourselves in this Nedbank Cup," added Mabaso.

AmaZulu have a proud history in South African football.

However, they have not been able replicate the form of yesteryear, during the 21st century.

Mabaso and AmaZulu are well aware of it.

"The last time we won a cup was in 1992, where we lifted the Coca-Cola trophy," said Mabaso.
