Tuks, Chippa set for battle

Cape Town - University of Pretoria will look to extend their unbeaten run in the Absa Premiership when they host Chippa United at Tuks Stadium.

The University side played to a goalless draw at home to Bidvest Wits in their last outing before the midseason break, extending their unbeaten run to four matches.

The Pretoria club has claimed just six points from their eight home matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Free State Stars (away), Black Aces and Maritzburg United (both home).

AmaTuks are placed 12th on the Absa Premiership log with 19 points from 17 matches.

Chippa suffered a 2-1 loss at home to SuperSport United in their last outing before the mid-season break, extending their winless run to five matches.

The Eastern Cape side has claimed seven points from eight away matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Maritzburg United (home), Ajax Cape Town (away) and Polokwane City (home).

The Chilli Boys are placed eighth on the PSL with 22 points from 17 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Tuks and Chippa have met in three league matches since 2012/13.

The Pretoria team boasts an unbeaten record in the sequence, with two victories and one draw.

Tuks’ only previous home match against Chippa was a 1-0 win in the first half of 2012/13.

When the teams met earlier this season, the Pretoria team claimed a 2-1 away win thanks to goals from Ketjijere and Nyondo.

Kick-off is at 19:30 on Tuesday, February 10.
