Tsutsulupa calls for calm

Johannesburg - Moroka Swallows captain, Lefa Tsutsulupa, has issued a stern warning to his team-mates not to be carried away by their MTN 8 Cup victory.

Swallows beat Supersport United 2-1 on Saturday night at Orlando Stadium to be crowned the 2012 MTN 8 Champions and Tsutsulupa says that, though he believes the Dube Birds won the trophy convincingly, as a team they don't have to celebrate the victory for the whole season and has urged his team-mates to fully turn their focus onto the Absa Premiership title.

Swallows did well last season under the tutelage of Gordon Igesund but unfortunately lost the league title on the last day of the PSL campaign to finish second on the league standings behind Orlando Pirates.

Tsutsulupa believes that his can lift any trophy on offer domestically, but to win the league title his team will need to be more consistent and make sure that they collect maximum points as often as possible.

The Swallows skipper said, "Yes, we missed out on the league title last season, but if we are consistent enough, we can win it come end of the season. We might not have had the best start in the league this season, collecting six points out of the possible twelve, but we can still turn the corner. We have the right players who can do the job, and if we can have the right attitude we can achieve our target.”

Tsutsulupa also added, “Victories boost morale in the team, and that helps with the points count.”

The midfielder admitted that there won't be easy games for Swallows this season, because as the newly crowned MTN champs, everybody will want to beat them, however he says that they will take it one game at a time.

Moroka Swallows will resume their Absa Premiership campaign against a struggling AmaZulu side on Wednesday at King Zwelithini Stadium. The game will begin at 19:30.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
