Tshabalala named new Chiefs captain

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs have announced that Siphiwe Tshabalala will wear the captain's armband for the 2015/16 season.

Sport24 reported that Amakhosi originally formed a committee of seven players who had been tasked with appointing a new captain for the upcoming season.

Coach Steve Komphela confirmed that it was not his decision to name the club captain as the committee would choose the best individual to take over from Tefu Mashamaite.

The Glamour Boys on Tuesday revealed that the committee in fact consisted of six players - Pa Gaxa, Willard Katsande, Morgan Gould, Tsepo Masilela, Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Lorenzo Gordinho.

Chiefs confirmed the news via their official Twitter account stating, "Congratulations to Siphiwe Tshabalala on being named the Glamour Boys' Captain."

'Shabba' has made over 200 appearances for Amakhosi since arriving from Free State Stars in 2007.
