Cape Town - Orlando Pirates head coach Eric Tinkler has called on strikers Kermit Erasmus and Thamsanqa Gabuza to replicate their continental form in the Absa Premiership.
Erasmus netted in the Buccaneers' 2-0 win over Maritzburg United in the Telkom Knockout quarter-final on Saturday; which is only his second goal in domestic competition this season.
By contrast, the forward scored five times in Pirates incredible run to the CAF Confederation Cup final and Tinkler is desperate for his front men to show that kind of form locally.
"We had countless chances against Supersport, I don't know how many against Ajax, how many against Black Aces, and didn't put them in the back of the net," Tinkler told Business Day.
"We obviously want Erasmus and Gabuza to produce the form they show in Africa, locally."
"It's my job to make them understand they need to apply themselves at home in the way they have been in African competition."
Tinkler revealed the side has been working on starting games more strongly and imposing themselves on the opposition early on.
"We didn't do that against Wits, and I'm happy that happened today.
"We created the first chance, had the first corner. That allowed the team to settle a bit," Tinkler added.
