Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler says he understands the supporters anger towards him as they were calling for his head following yet another league defeat to Lamontville Golden Arrows.
The Buccaneers poor start to the 2015/16 domestic season continues after suffering a 2-0 loss to Abafanabesthende in an Absa Premiership clash played at the Orlando Stadium.
The inform Gladwin Shitolo and Kuda Mahachi second-half strikes were sufficient to hand the newly promoted side the maximum points on the night.
Tinkler, however, admitted that he was left disappointed with the supporters’ behaviour but on the other hand understands their frustrations due to their undying love for the club.
“Obviously I am very disappointed with their behaviour. But at the same time I understand their frustrations and anger” said Tinkler.
“They love Orlando Pirates and when Orlando Pirates’ loses, it’s like they have lost something important or special in their lives.
“We understand that as players and the coaching staff. This is more than just a football club, but it’s also their lifestyle.
“Orlando Pirates is a lifestyle and if the team loses their lives becomes affected emotionally.”
The defeat left the Soweto giants rooted at bottom half of the log, occupying the 13th position while a win for Arrows moved them up to the 7th spot respectively.
Pirates will be looking to redeem themselves when they take on their perennial rivals Kaizer Chiefs at Soccer City on Saturday, October 31.
Kick-off is set for 15:00.
