Tinkler new Bucs assistant

Johannesburg - Roger de Sa has got his man at Orlando Pirates after the club announced that Eric Tinkler has been added to their technical team.

The Siya crew recently reported that Tinkler had grown disillusioned with the role he had been given at Wits and that de Sa was keen to reunite with the man who was his Clever Boys assistant.

In the early hours of Thursday morning a statement from Dr. Irvin Khoza on the Pirates website said, "I can confirm that Eric is joining us as an assistant coach, I was approached by the head coach (De Sa) that he would like to work with Eric. I immediately spoke to Brian Joffe (the chairman of Wits), he agreed to release Eric to come and join Pirates with immediate effect. We have a solid working relationship with Wits, which goes a long way. I would like to thank Mr. Joffe for the gesture.”

Tinkler will join Teboho Moloi at Mayfair as the second assistant to de Sa.

It remains to be seen how The Ghost will receive Tinkler’s appointment, however the former Barnsley midfielder did do good work with de Sa during their spell with the Students and it could be a shrewd move by Khoza and his management team.
