Cape Town - The untimely passing of goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa has strengthened the team spirit and sense of unity at Orlando Pirates, says coach Eric Tinkler.
The former Bafana Bafana midfield anchorman was speaking in the run-up to the Buccaneers' crucial CAF Confederations Cup clash against Gabon's CF Mounana on Saturday night.
"Our team spirit is from our great unity and you can see it from when Senzo passed on. We had to stick together and support each other," Tinkler told African Football.
Pirates are expected to come out with all guns blazing when they take on the Gabonese, after playing to a 2-2 draw against the very same opponents in Libreville a fortnight ago.
"It's important to go into the CF Mounana game with a confident win. It will give them something to think about," he added.
The mentor is counting on the likes of experienced players such as Happy Jele to set the example for the rest of the team to follow.
"Jele has been outstanding. He plays right-back, centre-back, captain and a player. He never complains - he is a leader and others feed off it."
The match gets under way at Orlando Stadium at 20h15.
