Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates interim coach Eric Tinkler has accepted an apology from midfielder Mpho Makola following the player’s unsportsmanlike behaviour in their Nedbank Cup last 16 defeat to SuperSport United two weeks ago.

“Bibo” was not happy at being substituted and snubbed handshakes from the technical team as well as team-mates on the bench before going straight to the dressing room, behaviour which infuriated Tinkler and club management.

Tinkler confirmed to Sport24 in an exclusive interview that the Groblersdal-born player has since extended his apology to the club and they intend to move on.

“Obviously I was not happy about it when it happened,” said Tinkler.

“His behaviour was really uncalled for, especially from a professional footballer like him.

“But the matter has been dealt with and has been resolved now by the club.

“He has apologised to the technical team, management and also to his team-mates.

“We have accepted his apology as a team and now we think it’s time to move on.”
