Tinkler: It was a fantastic day

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler said it was a fantastic day on Saturday when his side beat their arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the Carling Black Label Cup.

Tinkler said the team played well although it was like a game of two halves - where they controlled the first and Chiefs took the second half.

Tinkler told Sport24 that he was happy with the new players that he gave a run in the game.

"It was a fantastic day for us," Tinkler told Sport24

“It's true we played much better in the first half than in the second but I was happy with the way we played (overall).

“I gave young Memela the chance to play as well as Ndoro and Gyimah who only trained with us once.

“We are going to be playing a game almost every three days now and we have to keep on performing well all the time, and I think the players showed that on Saturday.”

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
