Tinkler: I came here to Pirates to win trophies

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler admits that winning trophies is what lured him to coach at the Sowetan club.

According to Soccer Laduma, the Buccaneers saw off Al Ahly 1-0 in the first-leg of their CAF Confederation Cup semi-final last weekend.

With Egypt beckoning for Tinkler’s charges on Sunday, October 4 for the second-leg, the former Bafana Bafana midfielder reveals they will give it their “best shot” to book their place in the final.

“I came here to Orlando Pirates to win trophies. This is the first one we stand a good chance of achieving now,” Tinkler said.

“We are one step away from reaching the final so we are going to give it our best shot. I know I will always give it my best shot.

“It would be fantastic to win because it is a trophy the club has never won. We would like to put it in the trophy cabinet, but it will not be easy.”

Kick-off is at 20:30 (SA time).

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
