Tinkler: Fatigue is a major concern

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler said that fatigue is a major concern as they did not have a real pre-season.

An injury-hit Pirates were knocked out of the MTN8 by Ajax Cape Town on Tuesday, August 4.

However, the former Bafana Bafana midfielder is not only concerned about the injured players, but he is also worried that fatigue might catch up with the rest of the squad.

“Fatigue is a major concern for me. We have tried to rest the players as much as possible. Our fixtures don't help us,” the coach said on CAF’s official website.

“We didn’t really rest during the off season when other teams were on a break as we have been playing in Africa.

Our pre-season was playing in Africa and that works both ways as an advantage and a disadvantage,” Tinkler explained.

“It’s good that we continue playing and that the players have that match fitness, but at the same time fatigue will be catching up with us. We won’t let playing in Africa hinder our preparations for the local season ahead. “
