According to KickOff, Mashamaite felt that he needed to share the success with his “co-star” after already walking away with various PSL awards on Sunday, May 17.

The Amakhosi defender walked away with the 2014/15 Footballer of the Season, Absa Premiership Player’s Player of the Season and the Absa Premiership Defender of the Season. He won a total prize money of R450 000.

“I won’t talk about who deserves it more, because there will always be varying opinions,” explains Mashamaite.

“But I decided that I’ve won enough awards at the PSL, and I just wanted to share the [success] with one of my ‘co-starring’, if I can call it that.

“[Mathoho] has been magnificent as well, so I think he has contributed a lot to the success of this team, and also adding to the fact that the chairman [Kaizer Motaung] talked about teamwork being one of the most important ingredients in winning the title this year,” he adds.

On the evening Mashamaite also won Vodacom Fans' Player of the Season while Mathoho scooped up two awards - Online Player of the Season and Fair Play Award.
