"I see him as a future Bafana Bafana captain. There only thing is just that age is no longer on his side, but if given a chance, he is a player who always leads by example,” said Khan.
According to Soccer Laduma, Khan worked with the 30-year-old in his early days as an upcoming defender and reveals he is not surprised by his level of consistency.
“I always knew that Junaid (nickname) had what it takes to be a great player and take his football to the next level.”
“Sometimes it takes a lot of time for the coaches to get what they want from a player, so I am happy that Stuart Baxter managed to see the quality of this boy.”
“He went to Chiefs with all the odds heavily stacked against him, but he was given the opportunity and he took it with both hands.”
Khan also makes mention of Tefu’s determination back in his academy days, having the likes of Sibusiso Khumalo, May Mahlangu and Tokelo Rantie around.
Kaizer Chiefs are set to Moroka Swallows on Wednesday, October 22 at the FNB Stadium.
Kick-off is at 19:30.
