Swallows look to bounce back

Johannesburg - Free State Stars and Moroka Swallows both head into their Absa Premiership clash at Goble Park off the back of losses.

Stars suffered their third defeat of the season when they were beaten 2-1 away to high-flying Ajax Cape Town in their last outing.

Tom Saintfiet side has claimed four points from a possible nine in home matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Chippa United, Bloemfontein Celtic (both away) and Bidvest Wits (home).

Ea Lla Koto occupy eighth place on the Absa Premiership log with seven points from six matches.

Dube Birds suffered a third defeat from their last four matches when they were beaten 2-0 at home by Chippa United after a 38th minute red-card to newly-signed Anver Esterhuizen which United took full advantage of.

The Sowetan side claimed three points from a possible six in away matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Mpumalanga Black Aces (home), Kaizer Chiefs (away) and Platinum Stars (home).

Zeca Marques' side are placed seventh in PSL with nine points from six matches.

In head-to-head stats, Stars and Swallows have met in 48 league matches since 1986.

The Birds have 23 wins compared to 13 for Ea Lla Koto, while 12 matches have been drawn.

Stars have won just seven of their 25 home matches against Swallows down the years, suffering 13 defeats in the process.

Last season Ea Lla Koto took four points off the Birds, drawing 2-2 in the Free State before a resounding 3-0 win in the return game in Soweto.

Kick-off is on Saturday, September 27 at 15:00.
