Sport24 reported that the incident took place in Hatfield over the weekend where Mkhabela attempted to flee after being caught disobeying a traffic law.

Police eventually gave chase and managed to pull the vehicle over, only to be confronted by an unruly and uncooperative man (Mkhabela), who refused to hand over his drivers' licence, forcing SAPS members to take him into custody.

SuperSport released a statement on the club’s website confirming the following:

“SuperSport United footballer Enocent Mkhabela was arrested on Sunday evening in Hatfield Pretoria.

"He was charged with refusing to identify himself.

"The matter is under investigation and Mkhabela will appear in court later this week.”
