According to KickOff, Chippa CEO Peter Koutroulis has curbed any rumours that Mayo would be leaving for Matsatsantsa.

“We are not going to lose the player; we spoke to his father (former Bafana Bafana striker Patrick) and he told us his son’s first option is Chippa United,” Koutroulis said.

Mayo’s father then confirmed that he did have discussions with SuperSport but nothing is finalised.

“It’s true that I told Chippa United that they have the first option for the player,” said (Patrick) Mayo.

Mayo is likely feature for the Chilli Boys over the weekend when Chippa take on Mamelodi Sundowns and AmaZulu in the Diski Challenge.

Kick-off for those encounters are at 14:00 on Saturday, October 11 and 10:00 on Sunday, October 12 at Tuks Stadium.
