Johannesburg - SuperSport United's 2-1 Absa Premiership loss to Ajax Cape Town at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Saturday meant the Tshwane side have now lost 10 league games this campaign.

Only Moroka Swallows (11) and AmaZulu (12) have lost more games this season than Matsatsantsa.

Goals from Erwin Isaacs and Toriq Losper got the Urban Warriors back to winning ways. Thuso Phala's second-half strike was not enough to prevent SuperSport from suffering their second successive defeat.

Jeremy Brockie led the line for the hosts with Kingston Nkhatha nursing an injury, the Zimbabwe international was spotted at the Soweto Derby where he watched former side Kaizer Chiefs held to a goalless draw by Orlando Pirates.

Nathan Paulse meanwhile replaced Robin Ngalande in the Ajax starting eleven after making an impact off the bench in Ajax midweek defeat to the Amakhosi.

Having suffered a surprise 5-2 loss to relegation threatened AmaZulu last time out, Matsatsantsa were eager to keep things tight against the Urban Warriors.

That was not to be though as Roger de Sa's men raced into a two goal lead before the half-hour mark.

Losper pounced on a defensive mistake by Michael Morton to open the scoring in the seventh minute before Isaacs doubled the visitors lead in the 29th with a cool finish having been put through on goal.

SuperSport ended the first-half on the front foot and pulled a goal back through Phala in the 56th minute.

First-half substitute Bradley Grobler picked out the in-form winger inside the area, the former Platinum Stars man making no mistake, hitting his effort past Anssi Jaakkola.

SuperSport took it up a gear around the hour mark with Phala and Clayton Daniels going close to leveling matters on the night.

The hosts though would ultimately come up short in their attempts to secure a point as they remained eighth. The win moves Ajax into fifth.
