Johannesburg - Bradley Grobler scored the only goal of the game at the Peter Mokaba Stadium as SuperSport United beat Golden Arrows 1-0 to progress to the Nedbank Cup semi-finals.

SuperSport look the more dangerous of the two sides from the off and probably should have taken the lead as early ad the 12th minute but Jeremy Brockie could only shoot straight at Maximilian Mbaevu after losing his marker.

Moments later and Dove Wome was guilty of similar profligacy in front of goal as he dragged hopelessly wide from Thuso Phala's cross when it looked easier to score.

It was all SuperSport in the opening exchanges, this time Phala taking on a shot of his own, but once again Mbaevu was on hand to gather.

A rare foray forward from Golden Arrows nearly snatched the lead on half-time through Dean Hotto, the forward doing well to get into space only to lash his effort wide of the post. Following the break, Omar Hendricks produced the first chance of the half with an effort wide of the post from the edge of the area as both sides continued to waste chances.

A glorious chance then fell to SuperSport after some sloppy defending allowed Brockie onto the ball, the winger dancing past two and playing in Kingston Nkata, who pulled his shot wide despite being in acres of space.

The breakthrough finally came on 71 minutes when substitute Bradley Grobler latched onto a great pass from Phala and finished expertly into the bottom corner to make it 1-0.

Arrows fought tooth and nail to get the equaliser from then on, but in the absence of any real chances were unable to find a goal, meaning Matsatsantsa progress to the semi-finals.
