Can Pirates stop GI's men?

Cape Town - SuperSport United will look to continue their good form in the Absa Premiership when they host Orlando Pirates at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

SuperSport recorded a fourth win from their last five league matches when they defeated Moroka Swallows 1-0 away.

The Tshwane side has claimed nine points from six matches at home this season.

Gordon Igesund has lifted Matsatsantsa to seventh place on the Absa Premiership standings since he took over Cavin Johnson. SuperSport United have 15 PSL points.

Pirates have lost two of their last three league matches, with their last outing a 2-1 defeat away to Black Aces last month.

The Soweto side has claimed seven points from five away matches this season. The Buccaneers are placed eighth on the Absa Premiership log with 14 points from nine matches.

In head-to-head stats, SuperSport and Pirates have met in 46 league matches since 1990.

The Buccaneers have 20 wins compared to 15 for Matsatsantsa, while 11 matches have been drawn.

SuperSport have won nine of their 23 home matches against Pirates, suffering nine defeats in the process.

Last season Matsatsantsa completed a league ‘double’ over Bucs, winning 2-1 in Soweto and 1-0 in Tshwane.

Kick-off is at 15:30 on Sunday, November 23.
