Pretoria - A goal within one minute after coming on as a
substitute by Rendani Ndou earned Polokwane City a point in a 1-1 draw away at
SuperSport United in the Absa Premiership.
Bradley Grobler did the damage for the home side in the 22nd
minute, but Ndou netted in the 73rd minute after having come on as a substitute
for Puleng Tlolane a minute before.
Polokwane City started well and took the game to Gordon
Igesund’s team and when Maxwell Molala beat two SuperSport defenders the signs
were there that the visitors meant business.
Then Dove Wome tested Polokwane City’s goalkeeper Modiri
Marumo but the effort was off target.
But SuperSport’s dominance quickly paid off when Bradley
Grobler netted from close range to give
the home side the lead.
Towards the end of the first half Polokwane City tried their
best to equalise but Ronwen Williams stood strong in goal.
In the second stanza, Zambian defender Joseph Musonda went
in search of a goal early goal but his effort was wide of the target.
Then City took off Puleng Tlolane for Rendani Ndou and
within one minute of being on the field, Ndou had scored.
Ndou netted with his left foot after good work by Esau
Kanyenda.
Jabu Maluleke had a chance for a late winner but he pulled
his shot wide of the target.
