According to KickOff.com, Mamelodi Sundowns and one of South Africa’s biggest telecommunications companies are set to agree a deal to join forces shortly.

It is reported that Cell C are front runners to agree terms with the Chloorkop side but several other high profile companies are also attempting to reach an agreement with Sundowns. These include telecommunications rivals MTN and DHL.

Patrice Motsepe’s family business, Ubuntu-Botho S&E, have been Sundowns shirt sponsor for some time now but a new sponsor is likely to find their name on the shirts of the Brazilians.

Meanwhile, Sundowns face fellow Absa Premiership title contenders Bidvest Wits at Loftus Stadium on Saturday, October 18.

In head-to-head stats, Sundowns and Wits have met in 57 league matches since 1985. The Brazilians have claimed 31 wins compared to 15 for the Clever Boys, while 11 matches have been drawn.

Sundowns have won 17 of their 28 home matches against Wits, suffering just four defeats in the process.

Last season, the Brazilians won their home match 2-1, while the Clever Boys claimed three points in their home fixture with a 3-1 victory.

Kick-off is at 18:00.
