Sundowns claim PSL Q3 prize

Cape Town - Reigning Absa Premiership champions and title contenders, Mamelodi Sundowns have claimed top honours in the 2014/15 Absa Premiership Quarter Three of the Q-Innovation.

This is the first quarter to be won by the ‘Brazilians’ this season. Last season, they won three quarters. Mamelodi Sundowns have now won four quarters since the introduction of the Absa Premiership Q-Innovation.

They won Q3 with 19 points from eight matches. Three clubs finished on 16 points in Quarter Three. They are; Orlando Pirates, Bloemfontein Celtic and Bidvest Wits.

Orlando Pirates, thanks to a superior goal difference, finished second followed by Bloemfontein Celtic (third) and Bidvest Wits (fourth).

PSL CEO, Brand de Villiers congratulated Mamelodi Sundowns: “The last quarter of the 2014/15 Absa Premiership promises to be a nail-biting affair and we are waiting in anticipation for the next few weeks.

“We would like to congratulate Mamelodi Sundowns who have contributed to this suspense and excitement around the league title battle.

“We would like to congratulate the club management, the coach Pitso Mosimane, the players and their fans for winning Absa Premiership Quarter Four.”

Absa Premiership Q-Innovation Facts:

- Current log leaders, Kaizer Chiefs won 2014/15 Absa Premiership Quarter 1

- Polokwane City, under Kosta Papic, claimed Quarter Two top honours (2014/15 season)

- Each side that wins a Quarter gets R1,5 million in prize money

- Quarter One (8 Fixtures), Quarter Two (7 Fixtures), Quarter Three (8 Fixtures), Quarter Four (7 Fixtures)
