Sundowns chase three points

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns and Moroka Swallows will resume their Absa Premiership season when they meet at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Sundowns ended off 2014 with a 2-1 home win over Ajax Cape Town, extending their unbeaten league run to 13 matches.

The Tshwane side has claimed 15 points from eight home matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are AmaZulu, Bidvest Wits, Free State Stars (all away).

The Brazilians are placed second on the Absa Premiership log with 31 points from 17 matches.

Swallows extended their unbeaten run at the end of 2014 to three matches when they defeated AmaZulu 2-1 away from home.

The Soweto side has claimed 11 points from seven away matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Polokwane City (away), Bidvest Wits (home) and Platinum Stars (away).

The Birds are occupying 13th position on the log with 19 points from 17 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Sundowns and Swallows have met in 59 league matches since 1985.

The Brazilians have claimed 30 wins compared to 13 for the Birds, while 16 matches have been drawn.

Sundowns have won 16 of their 28 home matches against Swallows, suffering seven defeats in the process.

When the teams met earlier this season, the Brazilians claimed a 2-0 away win thanks to goals from Niang and Mahachi.

Kick-off is at 19:30 on Tuesday, February 10.
