Johannesburg - Free State Stars goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene has completed a three-year deal with Mamelodi Sundowns, after agreeing to personal terms with the Tshwane giants, the club has announced.
According to the supersport.com website, the Zambian international keeper said his move to Sundowns had a lot to do with his burning ambition to play in the African Champions League, this after he has enjoyed continental success with Zambia.
"It's an honour and a privilege for me to work with a coach of Pitso Mosimane's caliber, because he is a man with a vision and his CV speak volumes. I know how he feels about playing in Africa and I want to be part of it too,” he said.
"I could have joined Sundowns a while back but timing is everything in football and, since I have tasted what continental success feels like at national team level, now I want to do it at club level. This one of the only teams in the country that shares that same vision."
Mweene will join his new team-mates in pre-season camp together will the international players who were given extra time off.
