Rustenburg - Platinum Stars captain Vuyo Mere says his players are always ready to face any opponent at any given time.
The 29-year-old right-back was speaking after the Telkom Knockout draw was made on Monday night.
Dikwena were drawn to face Ernst Middendorp’s Maritzburg United.
According to the club’s official website, the former Mamelodi Sundowns defender is certain they have enough depth within their squad to conquer the Team of Choice when they clash in the competition’s opening game early in October.
“It’s a good draw for us because we are playing at home and we haven’t lost at home in a lot of matches, so our record at home speaks for itself and we hope to use that tool to make it through to the quarter-finals of the tournament,” said Mere.
“We will be well prepared for Maritzburg, they are always tactically organised, but we are always ready for a good match.”
Stars had a tremendous campaign last season when they finished second on the log standings, trailing champions, Kaizer Chiefs, by a single point and were also the losing semi-finalists in the Nedbank Cup.
Mere is optimistic that this year Dikwena will triumph in one of the four competitions on offer in the country’s top flight football.
“This competition gives us an opportunity to win something, to put something in our cabinet,” the right-back added.
