Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs defender Siboniso Gaxa has downplayed the hype regarding the upcoming Soweto Derby, saying Amakhosi are solely focused on their game against Ajax Cape Town.

Chiefs welcome the high-flying Cape side to the FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening and three-days later, host Orlando Pirates at the same venue for the much anticipated Soweto Derby.

But the 30-year-old defender has down talked the hype surrounding Saturday's clash, telling Football411: "We are solely focused on the Ajax game because for us the next game is the most important game.

"It was important for us to win our previous game so we can carry the momentum into our next game as we have a tough week ahead us.

"Remember it's the second round now and every game is tough and also equally important because everybody needs the points.

"For us, we want to keep our position on top of the log and Ajax are coming from a win (2-0 win against Chippa United) so this will pump up their youngsters and that's why we are anticipating a really tough contest from Ajax."

Meanwhile, Gaxa also believes it was good for the country that Chiefs has progressed to the next phase of the CAF Champions League.

"I think the win was important for the club, our fans and most importantly the country that we continue to represent the country in the CAF," he said.

"We know the benefits that we get as a country from playing in such competitions so it is important for us to continue doing well and our fans love and appreciate it also.

"We are grateful to them for the support and hopefully they continue to do so throughout the campaign."

Kick-off is at 19:30 on Wednesday, March 4.
