Sono targets top 8 finish

Cape Town - Jomo Sono is confident Jomo Cosmos can finish in the PSL top-eight after strengthening  his squad with several new signings.

Sono revealed his target for the new-look team after confirming that his captain, Thabang Monare, was free to leave the club.

Monare skippered Cosmos last season as they won promotion to South Africa's top flight and recently stated that the side's main focus would be on securing their league safety.

However, it appears Sono does not see the player in his future plans.

Speaking at the unveiling of the club's new logo, Sono said: "Any team which wants Monare can come get him.

He added: "Rest assured that we will finish in the top eight. We have assembled the best and strongest team, so we will compete."

Sono also lifted the lid on the club's off-season business, unveiling no less than six new additions to the squad in Denver Mukamba, Mxolisi Macuphe, Paako Mahaabo, Mician Nhole, Uhuru Seleman and Sipho Mngomezulu.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
