Sono leaps to Zongo's defence

Cape Town - Jomo Sono has leaped to the defence of Platinum Stars ball wizard Masibusane Zongo after his showboating style of play came under criticism from Pitso Mosimane.

Following the goalless draw between Sundowns and Stars, Mosimane lambasted Zongo's flashy style.

The legendary Jomo Cosmos boss, who in his heyday was renowned for his trickery on the ball, said skillful play was in the DNA of local footballers.

"I heard Pitso saying in Europe and what-what, but this is not Europe, it is South Africa," Sono was quoted as saying by KickOff.

"I stood on top of the ball when I was playing and I still stood on the ball when I was in New York and they loved it.

"So if the boy has a way of expressing himself, let him express himself, but if he loses it and they score then kill him. But let them express themselves because this is Africa."
