Sono delighted with Cosmos

Vereeniging - Jomo Cosmos boss Jomo Sono believes his team’s superior goal difference over Black Leopards and Moroka Swallows will play a significant role in guiding his team back to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) next season.

Cosmos got their NFD and PSL relegation/promotion playoffs campaign up and running when they humbled Swallows 4-1 at Vaal University of Technology Stadium on Sunday.

A brace from Charlton Mashumba and goals from Thabo Ralebakeng and Brice Aka were enough to give Ezinkosi a deserved three points on the day.

Siyabonga Nomvethe scored a consolation goal for the Soweto giants.

The 59-year-old tactician said he never doubted they would get the maximum points over the Birds.

“Yes, we are all tied now after playing two games each and we have scored more goals now,” said Sono.

“We have scored more goals than the other two teams which is a good thing for us.

“I know this team can play, I know that when they are hungry they can play and give us the results.

“So I never doubted that we’ll beat Moroka Swallows today (Sunday).

“Our players were so relaxed and they were also enjoying the game without feeling any pressure at all.”

Cosmos will be looking to keep the winning momentum going in the playoffs campaign when they host Leopards at home on Wednesday.

Kick-off is set for 15:00.
