Sono bemoans football gods

Johannesburg - Jomo Sono is calling for divine intervention after a wasteful Jomo Cosmos lost 2-1 to Orlando Pirates in Port Elizabeth at the weekend.

Ezenkosi, bottom of the table without a win, were undone by an 87th minute effort from substitute Tokelo Ranti after Isaac Chansa's (45) penalty cancelled out Siyabonga Nontshinga's 29th minute opener for Cosmos.

Sono feels fate was against his men at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

"We need to play like the way we played against Pirates going forward. We don't need to change anything from the performance today. We just need luck," Sono told the PSL's official website.

"In football, (Pirates coach) Julio (Leal) will tell you, tactics play a role but you need luck. We will carry on playing like this, we won't change."

He continued: "If you saw the team that played today, we are not playing like a second division team. We play as if we have been in the Premiership for many years.

"The only thing is that we must ask God for a little bit of luck. We created chances, but we are not taking them in the box.

"In the last few games, all our matches have been too close. We could have won, but unfortunately we were not lucky."
