Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyabonga Nkosi is in a race against time to be fit for the start of his side's PSL title defence.
According to the Soccer Laduma website, the 31-year-old is struggling with a calf injury.
Nkosi has played little part in the Amakhosi’s pre-season campaign and didn’t feature in either of their past two games against Bloemfontein Celtic and Orlando Pirates.
He reportedly has a minor tear in his calf, and while he is on the comeback trail, he could miss their first game against Mpumalanga Black Aces on August 2.
Coach Stuart Baxter will be banking on Nkosi to recover sooner rather than later though, as Willard Katsande and Reneilwe Letsholonyane are the only other experienced centre midfielders in the squad.
