Cape Town - Chippa United coach Roger Sikhakhane said he was bitterly
disappointed by his team’s performance during the 2-1 defeat against
SuperSport United on Sunday.
For large periods of that dramatic encounter, Chippa United were in the position to walk away from the fixture with a point, at the very least. However, a momentary lapse in concentration when it mattered most, ultimately cost the team late in the afternoon.
"I think we gave it away. We were supposed to wrap the game in the first half, but our players were too casual," said Sikhakhane.
A common theme in the Premiership is that of opportunities lost in front of goal and that is an aspect which definitely affected the Chilli Boys in Port Elizabeth.
The result saw Chippa United stay in eighth position in the standings, when they could have moved as high as fourth. That is what has perturbed Sikhakhane the most during this period.
"We created a lot of chances but we couldn't convert, and that's part of the game. If you don't take your chances you end up in a situation like this," added the Chippa United mentor.
"We must take things seriously if we want to move somewhere else, and my players need to rise up and raise their hands."
