Shitolo: Our hard work paid off

Durban - Lamontville Golden Arrows defender Gladwin Shitolo said his team-mates were well prepared for the pace of Ajax Cape Town's youthful team.

Abafana Bes'thende enjoyed their 1-0 win over the Urban Warriors in a Telkom Knockout last 16 encounter at Chatsworth Stadium on Saturday, October 3.

“I think we have worked very hard as a team," said Shitolo.

“We were going forward collectively as a team and again we were also working together defensively.

“And I think that the team deserves credit for that because Ajax are a good team with plenty of fast players in their squad.

“They have lots and lots of energy and they can run all day long without getting tired.

“So we trained twice as hard as we normally do in order to maintain their pace on the pitch.

“And we managed to meet the expectations and I can confidently say that our hard work paid off.”

Arrows will meet the defending champions SuperSport United in the quarter-final of the Ziwa Mo competition.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
