Shabba strike, goal of the season?

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela has tipped Siphiwe Tshabalala's wonder goal against Free State Stars to be a contender for goal of the season.

The Amakhosi captain picked up the Man-of-the-Match accolade for an eye-catching display in midfield, netting a stunning goal and providing an assist as Komphela's men cruised to a comfortable 4-0 victory.

Speaking to the club's official website, Komphela said: "Shabba's goal should be a contender for the goal of the season.

Komphela had several positives to take away from his side's performance, adding: "We grew with the match.

"Maybe it was the energy of the opponent that gave us the match, as we progressed the longer the game went on and the goals were a result of that.

"People will say that Stars scored two own goals, but those came due to the pressure we put on their defenders."

Komphela also had words of praise for the strike duo of Siphelele Mthembu and Bongani Ndulula.

"There are different types of striker," he said. "You have the foxes in the box, like the former English attacker Michael Owen, and then there are the strikers like the former German international Oliver Bierhoff.

"Mthembu did what we wanted him to do, as he did last week against Bloemfontein Celtic. Bongani Ndulula, who came on for Siphelele, also did the same. I am happy with my strike force."
